Description
Through an IDEA Discretionary Grant, the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) is implementing a regional Attracting and Retaining Wisconsin’s Special Educators Induction Program for new special educators. The induction program consists of “just-in-time” professional learning, coaching, and a support network.
-
Six “just in time” professional learning sessions by trained professional development specialists. Sessions will include training in the following high leverage classroom practices and special education compliance content:
-
At least six coaching sessions by trained coaches to support content learning.
-
At least six support network sessions by trained facilitators to build emotional resilience and cohort support.
Priority will be given to districts that are committed to providing release time for first year/license with stipulations for special educators who participate in all three opportunities of the induction program: professional learning, coaching, and support networks. Districts with new teachers participating and completing all three opportunities of the induction process will receive a stipend per participant.
